Wilkie Back For More

20/06/2025

Edinburgh Capitals are delighted to announce the re-signing of defenceman Cameron Wilkie for the 2025-2026 SNL campaign.

The 19-year-old blueliner will be back for another season here in Edinburgh after joining the club at the start of 2024-25. Cammy signed with the Caps, having spent the previous season with Kirkcaldy Kestrels, Blackburn Hawks, and Dundee U19s.

On the back end, Cammy brings speed and is a very impressive skater. He will look to keep improving this coming season and contribute when called upon. At the end of last season, along with Joe Lynch, they both represented Scotland U19’s when they faced England down in Sheffield.

Cammy is also a former GB U16 internationalist as well as representing Scotland throughout his junior days. He ended last season with 2 goals and 2 assists, playing in 31 games for the Caps.

On his return to the team, he said, “I love playing here in the capital. After a disappointing end to the season for the team in the last campaign, the league is a must for the team.

“With the players that the coaching staff have already recruited, we are definitely on the right track for success.

“I’m looking forward to my 2nd season in Edinburgh and hope to not only develop my game but push for silverware as I feel the boys and fans are deserving of something special next season.

“Have a good summer, Caps fans, and see you come September.”

Head Coach Steven Lynch is delighted to have Cammy back for the new season. “Cammy had a good first season with us last year, and we’re looking for him to push on and command more responsibility this year. Sometimes we forget that he’s still young and learning the finer points of his craft, but he’s bounced back well from losing his way in the game slightly a year or two ago, and Edinburgh and our great fans have played a big part in him doing that.

“He’s also a player with 3 or 4 years’ experience in the SNL, he has been a regular member of Scotland junior teams over the years, and represented GB in the past, so we know he has it in him to progress and take his game to the next level.

“We’re delighted that we’ve got him back and he’ll be a big part of our defensive group next season.”

The team is really beginning to take shape, and more signings will be announced very soon.

LET’S GO CAPITALS!
