Edinburgh Capitals are delighted to announce the re-signing of netminder Ben Keddie for the 2026-2027 SNL campaign.
Ben was a huge part of our success last season and backstopped us to two Championships. He also became a firm fan favourite and won the Supporters Player of the Year for 2025-26 with his standout performances week after week. Also picking up the Coach’s Player of the Year and the Player’s Player of the Year, this shows you how valuable he was to the team.
The 21-year-old will again take on the role as number one goalie and if last season was anything to go by, we are in safe hands for this upcoming campaign.
The Kirkcaldy-born stopper joined the Caps last summer after a season in the NIHL 1 with Blackburn Hawks. Throughout last term, Ben also trained with Elite League side Fife Flyers and went on to make one appearance at that level.
It was between the pipes with the Caps that he had a very impressive year. He finished with a 1.78 Goals Against Average and a Save Percentage of 94%. Playing a total of 1889 minutes, facing 932 shots, and conceding only 56 goals.
On returning for his second season, Ben had this to say, “I’m excited to be back for another year. What’s going on in Edinburgh makes it a great place to play every game. After a successful year last year, we want to win it all, so hopefully next season we can deliver that. Have a good summer, and we hope to see you all back at the start of the season.”
Head Coach Steven Lynch knows this is a massive signing being able to retain the services of Ben. “Your starting goalie is your most important player on the team. We feel that we’ve just re-signed the best goalie in the SNL so we’re obviously delighted. Ben is another player who had some interest from teams in England but decided to call Edinburgh home for another season.
“After coming in last summer, we instantly became a better team, and he was a huge part of the success we had. He carried a save percentage of 94% which tells it’s own story. He won us some games we possibly should have lost, and the players had confidence that they could depend on Ben when he was behind them in the net.
“Our first two re-signings have been massive for us and a huge statement for us as a club. Being able to keep hold of two talented young players speaks volumes of the work that goes on behind the scenes to make this a great place to play. I know Ben enjoyed it here last season and we’ll continue to build a team that can challenge for all silverware on offer again.”
More signings will follow very soon.
