Edinburgh Capitals are delighted to announce the re-signing of forward Kyle Howie for the 2026-2027 SNL campaign.
The 20-year-old returns for his second season with the club after joining the Capitals last summer from North Ayrshire Wild. Kyle was the only Caps player to feature in all 41 games across all competitions last season, recording 8 goals and 9 assists for 17 points.
Born in Kirkcaldy, Kyle developed through the junior ranks in Fife before making the move to North Ayr for his final year of junior hockey. He progressed into the Wild’s SNL side and spent two seasons there between 2023 and 2025. He also had a spell with Lanarkshire Lighting at U16 level before returning to his hometown.
Kyle brings speed, determination, and a relentless work ethic to the Capitals roster, and he will be looking to build on a strong first season as the club aims to defend its two championship titles.
Speaking on his return, Kyle said, “I’m delighted to be back at the Lion’s Den for another season. Playing in front of the Capitals fans was an incredible experience, and hopefully, we can build on what we achieved last year and bring home more trophies.
“We have a fantastic locker room, and that was a huge part of our success. I can’t wait to get back on the ice in August and skate out to the roar of the Caps fans. There really is no better place to play than a packed Murrayfield Ice Arena.
“Enjoy the rest of the summer, and I’ll see you all soon.”
Head Coach Steven Lynch was pleased to secure another returnee, saying, “Kyle had a good first season with us. Coming from a smaller team where there wasn’t as much pressure on him, we felt he handled the step up really well and produced some excellent performances throughout the year.
“There are still one or two areas of his game that we’d like to help him improve, but he is a valued member of the team and is always willing to listen and learn.
“Kyle is his own harshest critic, which is a positive because it shows his desire to improve. We’re delighted to have him back for another year.”
The roster continues to take shape as we move closer to finalising the team for the new season.
LET’S GO CAPITALS!
