On Saturday, the Caps were at home in front of a lively crowd who helped them get out to an early 2-0 lead in the first. Joe Lynch continued his unbelievable offensive streak, scoring the first Caps goal and assisting on Chad Smith’s goal several minutes later.

The second period was scoreless for both teams, with play and possession swapping constantly up and down the ice. Both goaltenders made several outstanding saves to keep both their teams in it as the offence remained active for both sides.

It was the third and final period in which the drama of the game truly began to unfold. With both teams exhausted from killing multiple penalties over the course of the first two periods, the desperation to take the first game of the double header was plain to see.

Joe Lynch scored his second of the game early in the third; however, Dundee would score the next two shortly after to bring themselves within one headed into the final ten minutes. Although they had made a valiant comeback, Canadian import Sean Stewart struck the final blow with a long-shot empty net goal to stifle the Rockets momentum.
